“The Home Energy Course taught me about looking at your whole home when doing heating/AC, rather than just dealing with 1 issue at a time. We have two properties that we upgraded. 1: Our rental property had 0 insulation in the walls, 51% leakage from the ducts when the AC was running, 1 part of the ceiling was without any insulation and we didn’t even realize it. Our upgrades solved all of our problems. The utility bills for our tenants were drastically lowered by sealing the ducts and the home became much more comfortable with blown-in insulation. 2: My home was build before 1980 without insulation in the walls. We did a larger project, first we added a variable speed pool pump, this saved us about $75 per month on our utility bills right away. Then we upgraded to mini-splits to make heating/cooling more efficient and central to each individual room, insulation in all of our walls (there was none and comfort on hot days/cold days was a very big issue), whole house fan (Love this to cool the house down, but also to get fresh air into the home and timprove indoor air quality), and lastly solar. By doing the energy efficient repairs first, we were able to cut down the cost of solar by reducing the panels needed. And, we no longer fear a hot day because our home is so comfortable and cool.”

“Best thing I could’ve every done. Everyone should complete the Home Energy Course. After the course I developed a plan to combat all the ways our house lacked energy efficiency. We installed insulation in all of our outer walls and in our garage ceiling, we got a new tankless hot water heater, we replaced our huge aluminum sliding door (which was leaking air), and installed a whole house ventilation unit. Our entire attic was gutted and redone with new air ducts and insulation. In additiona, we got a new roof and re-stuccoed the outside. Our energy was low before and became even lower.
